Title: DevOps and CI/CD Pipeline: Exploring the IoT-Related Projects Landscape

Abstract: The evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) systems has brought unique challenges to software development, demanding agile practices and the automation of continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. However, applying these practices in IoT-related projects presents significant obstacles. Given this need, this research aims to investigate the challenges and propose approaches for continuously developing, maintaining, and delivering software for IoT embedded systems. To achieve this goal, we adopted a methodological approach composed of a Systematic Literature Review, an Exploratory Study, Mining Software Repository study, and a Quasi-Experiment. These steps provided valuable insights into applying DevOps and CI/CD practices to IoT-related projects. Our main contributions include identifying key challenges faced when implementing DevOps and CI/CD in IoT embedded systems, addressing knowledge gaps, and providing practical guidance for practitioners and researchers. The results highlight the need to adapt software engineering practices to meet the specific demands of these projects and the importance of prior knowledge of integration and continuous delivery for its successful implementation. This research provides a solid foundation for advancing software development for IoT embedded systems, contributing to quality, security, and agility in this constantly evolving field.
